  • You must have the necessary permissions, provided by your SoCast Account Manager.
  • You must have admin access to Google DFP (DoubleClick for Publishers, now known as Google Ad Manager).

Step-by-Step Guide to Video Pre-Roll Setup

  1. Upload your video creative in one of the following common formats:

    • WebM files – VP8 video codec and Vorbis audio codec
    • MPEG4, 3GPP, and MOV files – Typically support H.264 or MPEG4 video codecs and AAC audio codec
    • AVI – Often uses MJPEG video codec and PCM audio
    • MPEGPS – Typically supports MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio
    • WMV
    • FLV – Adobe FLV1 video codec and MP3 audio
    • HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) – Adaptive bitrate standard for live stream video events
  2. Once uploaded, Google Ad Manager (DFP) will transcode your video into up to nine different formats and sizes, depending on the original resolution.

  3. DFP will transcode your video into all supported format and resolution combinations that are the same as or smaller than your uploaded video’s resolution.

  4. If you have an audio pre-roll, convert it to a video pre-roll by creating a video file with a static image and the audio track.

  5. Important: Video pre-rolls must use the AAC audio format as this is a requirement for compatibility.

Following these steps will ensure your video pre-roll ads are properly set up and compatible with Google Ad Manager and the SoCast Mobile App.
