Step-by-Step Guide to Video Pre-Roll Setup
-
Upload your video creative in one of the following common formats:
- WebM files – VP8 video codec and Vorbis audio codec
- MPEG4, 3GPP, and MOV files – Typically support H.264 or MPEG4 video codecs and AAC audio codec
- AVI – Often uses MJPEG video codec and PCM audio
- MPEGPS – Typically supports MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio
- WMV
- FLV – Adobe FLV1 video codec and MP3 audio
- HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) – Adaptive bitrate standard for live stream video events
-
Once uploaded, Google Ad Manager (DFP) will transcode your video into up to nine different formats and sizes, depending on the original resolution.
-
DFP will transcode your video into all supported format and resolution combinations that are the same as or smaller than your uploaded video’s resolution.
-
If you have an audio pre-roll, convert it to a video pre-roll by creating a video file with a static image and the audio track.
-
Important: Video pre-rolls must use the AAC audio format as this is a requirement for compatibility.
Following these steps will ensure your video pre-roll ads are properly set up and compatible with Google Ad Manager and the SoCast Mobile App.
