How Do I Embed a Video on My Website Using SoCast?
Who Is This Article For?
- All users with "Manage All Pages" or "Manage Selected Pages" permissions
- Applicable to all SoCast themes
Important Note
In some cases, video embeds may not work if the publisher of the video has restricted embedding. If you encounter issues, check the video source's sharing permissions.
Step-by-Step Guide: Embedding Videos
There are three main ways to embed a video on your website using SoCast:
1. Using the Text Editor
- Note: This method only works with YouTube links and will display the video at the full width of the page.
- Open the Post, Page, Sidebar, or Contest where you want to add the video.
- Insert the YouTube link directly (e.g., https://youtube.com/xoxoxox). If this does not work, copy and use the YouTube embed code instead.
- The embedded video should appear as shown below:
2. Using the Video Player Element
3. Using the Raw HTML Element
- This method is ideal for embedding videos from sources other than YouTube, or for custom embed codes.
- Open the video you want to embed.
- Look for a Share option in the video player.
- Under Share, find the Embed option or iFrame code.
- Copy the embed or iFrame code.
- In the SoCast platform, open the Page, Blog Post, Sidebar, or Contest where you want to add the video.
- Select the Drag-and-Drop Editor.
- Click Add Widget.
- Select Raw HTML Element.
- Paste the custom iFrame code.
Tip: You can adjust the width and height of the video in the embed code. For responsive design, set the width to "100%" so the video fits all screen sizes.
- Once you have adjusted the size, preview and save your changes.
- For more details, see the Raw HTML Element article.
Additional Notes
If you want to embed vertical videos, such as YouTube Shorts or videos from X (formerly Twitter), use the Raw HTML Element to paste the appropriate embed or iFrame code.
