How Do I Re-authorize My Facebook Token?

How Do I Re-authorize My Facebook Token?

  1. This Article Is For: All Users With Social Permissions
  2. Requirements: Must have a Facebook profile connected, and be listed as an Admin on the Facebook page you wish to post to.
When composing a Facebook post via the SoCast publishing tool, or when using the 'monitoring streams' tool, you may on occasion be asked to 're-authorize your Facebook token'. This is required in order to connect with Facebook's API to allow us to modify or write a specific person's Facebook data on their behalf. (Basically it allows us to send out your Facebook posts on your behalf)

Example of a 're-authorization' warning:

"Your Facebook permissions have expired. Please re-authorize access to your Facebook account"

Step-by-step guide

  1. To re-authorize our app click the 'Authorize' button
  2. This will redirect you to: Social > Social Settings and under the Personal section, click on "Reconnect Facebook".
  3. If you've been connected previously, a pop-up should appear reminding you that you've previously linked SoCast to this Facebook account, and it will ask you if you'd like to continue with your previous settings.

  1. In other instances, after clicking the re-authorize button, it will redirect you to social > social settings.
  2. If your Facebook account is still connected, you will need to click on the 're-connect Facebook' or  'remove' button, under your name below Facebook / Instagram.
  3. A popup will ask the following questions and you need to click 'yes' or 'ok' for each one.
  4. Are you sure? Removing this connection will remove all scheduled posts associated with this account and its pages.

  1. You've previously linked SoCast to Facebook Would you like to continue with your previous settings?
  2. At this point you can click 'edit settings' to add any additional Facebook pages or permissions you may need (all of the permissions should be checked-off)
  3. Or you can click continue as (the blue button) and it will re-connect your settings, as they were previously.

  1. After re-connecting you should see your profile, and all Facebook & Instagram pages re-connected under Social > Social Setting
  2. Click 'save'
