How Do I Set-Up My App's Promo Screen?

These are the instructions for setting up your mobile app's promo screen. The promo screen is the 2nd image that is seen when your app is opened by your listeners/members. Generally a splash image is first (i.e a station logo) followed by the promo image.

This Article Is For:

  • Users who have been given permission to manage Mobile App Settings

Requirements:

  • Station/brand have already purchased the SoCast Mobile App package
  • Have been given the above listed permissions by your SoCast Account Manager.

Features:

  • Promo Screens appear when the app is opened, after the splash screen
  • Can be changed often
  • Guarantees that the listener will see it.
  • Promo Screens work best in conjunction with other sponsored content such as: contests, events, shows, special guests etc

Step-By-Step Guide

  1. Go to: Mobile App Settings > General > scroll down to Promo Screen
  2. Recommended Dimensions: 1440px by 3088px (19.3:9)
  3. Format: JPG, PNG
  4. Aspect Ratio: 19:9, 18:9, or 16:9 for best display on your targeted device(s)
  5. The promo screen image scales to fit the device screen size.
  6. Warning: Stock images requiring attribution cannot be used here

Tips:

  1. We recommend setting your Promo Screen for around 6 seconds, and no longer than 10 seconds. Otherwise your users will assume the app is not loading and abandon it.
  2. Make sure your Promo Screen is updated frequently
  3. The Promo Screen doesn't last very long. So no need to put long text on it. Your users won't have the time to read it.
  4. Anticipate how it will look on devices. It displays in portrait view on devices.
  5. Make sure to use an image that is easy to understand and easy to read
  6. Can be used to sell sponsorships of entire app
  7. Can be sold by duration (ex. one month)
  8. Due to growing fragmentation in device screen resolutions and aspect ratios so there is currently no single dimension that will work for all or most devices.

Notes:

  1. Cropping is not available due to the fact that it is difficult to provide an asset that can work across different (and in some cases extreme variabilities in) screen sizes/ratios, especially since there are increasingly more screens to support over time.
  2. The uploaded promo screen is currently resized to fit the screen. This is to ensure that all critical content in the promo screen is always visible and readable across devices. As a result, empty space above/below or to the left/right of the promo screen appears when the image size/ratio does not match the device screen size/ratio exactly.
  3. For best results, the image should be sized according to what the most popular device screens are based on your own app analytics for your particular user base demographics.
  4. Currently the Samsung Galaxy S23 is the largest device screen on the market (out of the popular devices) and has similar specifications to the Google Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Plus.
