How Does Album Art and Song Information Work in the SoCast Player?

For: All users with access to the Player tab.

Overview

SoCast retrieves album art from Apple Music to help prevent copyright infringements. Song titles and artist names are automatically pulled from your datacasting provider (such as Tre, Arctic Palm, etc.) and used to search Apple Music’s library for the corresponding album art.

While we do our best to improve accuracy—such as automatically removing featured artists or extra punctuation—Apple Music’s search tool is not always perfect. If the song title or artist name varies, album art may appear inconsistently.

Common Scenarios Affecting Album Art Display

The Apple Music album art search tool may not return the correct image in the following situations:

  • Songs with featured artists (e.g., DJ Khaled ft. Drake). Removing the featured artist may improve results.
  • New songs or indie artists that are not yet available on Apple Music.
  • Songs with similar or identical names (e.g., Van Halen – "Jump" and Pointer Sisters – "Jump").
  • Christian or Gospel programming, as these genres are not always available on Apple Music.
  • Songs from compilation or greatest hits albums.
  • Cover versions of songs.

What Happens If No Album Art Is Found?

If no image is returned for a song, the playlist will either display no image or will show a generic wavelength image.

Requesting a Manual Album Art Update

If you notice missing or incorrect album art, you can request a manual update. When we update album art, it applies to that song for all SoCast clients, not just your station.

To request a manual update, please provide the following information:

  • Exact song title
  • Exact artist name, including any featured artists (e.g., DJ Khaled ft. Drake)
  • A link to the iTunes album art you would like us to use

Once we receive your request, we will review and update the album art as soon as possible.
