Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Create a Mailchimp Account:
    Visit https://mailchimp.com and follow the instructions to create your account.
  2. Create an Audience for Each Station:
    After your account is set up, create an audience for each station in your broadcast company.
  3. Navigate to the Audience tab.
  4. Click the Current audience drop-down and select View audiences.
  5. If you have only one audience, click the Manage Audience drop-down and choose View audiences.
  6. Click Create Audience.
  7. In the confirmation box, click Create Audience again.
  8. Name your audience based on your station name (e.g., Wild 95.3).
  9. Review and edit the contact information for this audience as needed.
  10. In the Form Settings section, choose the opt-in method for your audience.
  11. To send an opt-in confirmation email when someone subscribes, check Enable double opt-in. Leave it unchecked for single opt-in, which adds subscribers immediately.
  12. Enter the email address where you'd like to receive notifications about your audience and select your notification preferences.
  13. When finished, click Save.
  14. Once the audience is created, click on it and add yourself as a subscriber.
  15. Click Add Contacts > Add a subscriber.
    Enter your details and save.
  16. Click on Settings.
  17. Click on Audience Name and Defaults.
  18. Save the Audience ID for later use in your email account settings.
  19. Click on Manage Contacts and select Segments from the drop-down list.
  20. Click the grey Create Segment button.
  21. Set up your segment:
    Email Address > Contains > (Enter your subscription group name, e.g., March Birthdays)
  22. Click Preview Segment.
  23. Click the Save Segment button.
  24. In the pop-up, enter the subscription group name again (e.g., March Birthdays) as the segment name.
  25. Click Save.
  26. Return to Manage Contacts.
  27. Click Segments to view your new subscription group.
  28. Repeat these steps for each station/account you want to use with Mailchimp/email.

Connecting Mailchimp to SoCast

  1. In SoCast, go to Settings > Account Settings > Account Email.
  2. Add your Audience ID from step 18 above.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Go to the Email tab.
  5. If you see your subscription group (e.g., March Birthdays), you're set. If not, click the Refresh button.
  6. Enable the subscription group.
  7. You should now see it appear on the signup page on the front end of your site.

Finding Your Mailchimp API Key (For Company Settings)

  1. Username: This is the email address associated with your Mailchimp account.
  2. Go to the API Keys section of your Mailchimp account: Your API Keys.
  3. Copy an existing API key or click Create A Key to generate a new one.
  4. Name your key descriptively so you know what application is using it.

Once these steps are complete, your Mailchimp account will be set up and connected to SoCast, allowing you to manage your email audiences and subscription groups efficiently.
