How Do I Create and Customize Tickers on My SoCast Website?

What You Can Do With Tickers

  • The website-wide ticker option keeps your audience informed with the latest news across your entire website.
  • The custom text feature in all tickers allows you to display custom or third-party notices, such as announcements, closures, weather advisories, or government updates.
  • New style options let you tailor your tickers for specific uses.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to Website > Content Elements > Tickers.
  2. Click Add New to create a new ticker.
  3. Enter a name for your ticker.

Add Custom Text Content

  1. Configure the custom text content for your ticker. All custom text items will appear before any other type of content in the ticker.
  2. Enter one text item per line. To include a URL, use a double colon :: as a separator. For example:
    This is a line of text :: https://www.url.com

Add Blog Content

  1. Configure the blog content for your ticker. A maximum of 20 blog posts can be displayed.
  2. Blog Categories: Use the drop-down menu to select one or more blog categories to display posts from.
  3. To create a new blog category, click Add New Category.
  4. To manage your blog categories, click Manage Categories.
  5. Hours to Auto Expire: Display blog posts from the selected categories that were published within the specified number of hours. Leave set to 0 (zero) to never expire.

Customize Appearance

  1. Configure the appearance of your ticker.
  2. Background Color: Use the color picker to choose a background color for the ticker.
  3. Text Color: Use the color picker to choose a color for your ticker text.
  4. Ticker Text Size: Select a size for your ticker text.
  5. Ticker Label Text: Add a label to describe the ticker content. Leave blank to hide the label.
  6. Ticker Label Position: Set the position of the ticker label relative to the ticker content.
  7. When finished, click Save to create your ticker.

After creating your ticker, add it to the desired page using the Ticker Widget. For more details, see the Ticker Widget article.

Additional Customization (Theme 3.0)

Additional customization is available for users on Theme 3.0. You can preview and adjust how the ticker appears on your site by going to Website > Website Settings > Theme > Launch Theme Editor. In this section, you can customize the ticker's position and width.
