Why Do I Get An Error When Trying To Add A Facebook Page To An Activity Stream?

Sometimes when trying to add a Facebook page url to an activity stream, you may be presented with an error such as: "Sorry, cannot get content from https://www.facebook.com/examplepage, please try again"

This error generally means either of the following:

  1. That Facebook is geo-blocking content from that page. Our servers are American, and therefore cannot pull geo-blocked content.
  2. That the Facebook page you are trying to add doesn't have enough content to be pulled
  3. That there is an unknown issue with Facebook at that time (such as Facebook being down etc)


Step-by-step guide

To make sure you (or your sponsor's) Facebook page is not geo-blocked, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log into an account with access to the Facebook page having the issue. (If it's a sponsor account, they will need to log in)
  2. Go to the Facebook page
  3. Click on 'settings' in the top right hand corner



  4. Scroll down to 'Country Restrictions'
  5. Make sure it says page is 'visible to everyone'



  6. If it's not 'visible to everyone' click the pencil/edit icon and remove 'United States' as a country restriction.
  7. Save changes
  8. Go back to your activity stream in the SoCast back-end and try re-adding the Facebook page
