Why Does Google Play Say the App Isn't Available in My Country?

Who Is This Article For?

  • Users who have permission to manage Mobile App Settings
  • Applicable to both Single Tenant App and Multi-Tenant App users

Requirements

  • Your station or brand must have purchased the SoCast Mobile App package
  • You must have the necessary permissions from your SoCast Account Manager
  • You must have admin access to your company’s Google Play account

If you see a message in the Google Play Store stating that the app isn't available in your country, it means the app has been set to be distributed only in selected countries. If you believe you are in an eligible country, you may need to update your Google Play account settings. Note that the Google Play Store determines your location based on your default billing address, not your physical location at the time of download.

Step-by-Step Guide to Reset Your Google Play Store Location

  1. Sign in to your Google Wallet account to manage your payment methods: https://wallet.google.com/manage/paymentMethods
  2. Add a new card or change your default payment method to one with a billing address in your desired country.
  3. Open the Play Store and navigate to any item available for download.
  4. Start a download and proceed to the "Accept and buy" screen (you do not need to complete the purchase).
  5. Close the Play Store and clear data for the Google Play Store app (go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Clear Data) or clear your browser cache.
  6. Reopen the Play Store. You should now see the Play Store for your default payment method’s billing country.

If you have not yet added a payment method to your account, add a card directly from the Play Store with a billing address that matches your intended country. Then follow steps 3 through 6 above to update your Play Store country.
